Moving to a New Phone
When you get a new phone, you can transfer your BlokSec identity using your encrypted backup. All your accounts will be restored automatically.
Before you switch
Section titled “Before you switch”Make sure you have a current backup on your old phone. If you haven’t created one yet, do that first — see Creating a backup.
Your backup is a QR code secured with a passphrase that you chose. You’ll need both the QR code image and the passphrase to restore on your new phone.
Restoring on your new phone
Section titled “Restoring on your new phone”- Download the BlokSec app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android)
- Open the app and choose Restore Account
- Scan your backup QR code
- Enter the passphrase you chose when you created the backup
- Set up device security on your new phone (Face ID, fingerprint, or PIN)
Once restored, all your accounts appear on the home screen. You’re ready to sign in.
What transfers and what doesn’t
Section titled “What transfers and what doesn’t”| Transfers | Doesn’t transfer |
|---|---|
| All your accounts and organizations | Your PIN (you’ll set a new one) |
| Your cryptographic identity | Notification preferences |
| Your ability to sign in to all apps | Your old device’s registration |
Your old phone will still appear in your organization’s device list until your IT administrator removes it, or until it’s automatically deactivated.
If you didn’t back up
Section titled “If you didn’t back up”If you switched phones without creating a backup:
- Contact your IT administrator
- They will unregister your old device and generate a new invitation QR code
- Download the BlokSec app on your new phone
- Scan the invitation QR code to set up from scratch
This creates a new identity, so it’s treated as a fresh enrollment rather than a transfer.
