Backups

BlokSec lets you create an encrypted backup of your account as a QR code. If you get a new phone or need to restore your account, you can scan the QR code and enter your passphrase to recover everything.

Creating a backup

1. Open the BlokSec app and go to Settings
2. Tap Backup
3. Enter a strong passphrase — this encrypts your backup, so choose something you’ll remember but that others can’t guess
4. The app generates a QR code containing your encrypted account data
5. Save the QR code to your photos, print it, or store it somewhere safe

Enter a passphrase and save the QR code

Keep your passphrase safe

Store your passphrase separately from the backup QR code. The QR code is encrypted — without the passphrase, it can’t be used. If you forget your passphrase, you won’t be able to restore from the backup.

Restoring from a backup

If you’re setting up BlokSec on a new phone or need to restore your account:

1. Open the BlokSec app
2. Choose Restore
3. Scan your backup QR code using the camera, or tap Import from Photos to select the saved QR image
4. Enter the passphrase you used when creating the backup
5. Your account is restored

Restoring replaces your current account

If your app is already linked to an identity, restoring from a backup will clear your current configuration first. The restored account replaces whatever was there before.
